The Vanishing Season by Joanna Schaffhausen

The Vanishing Season is a decent mystery/crime novel but it took a while to hook me and I figured the murderer out too early for my tastes. It’s about what I expected though I planned to finish it in one sitting. Obviously, that did not happen because I found this tough to get into.

Basically, Ellery is a cop in a small town. She has secrets, the biggest one being that she was abducted by a serial killer as a child. Now, three people have disappeared from her small town and she’s the only one to think they are linked. Of course, she calls on the FBI agent who saved her back in the day. He arrives, investigations transpire.

There are lots of obvious red herrings, a few not so obvious and well done red herrings as well. I think most people will find this one enjoyable so I’m including the affiliate link to Amazon. There is no extra charge to purchase through the link (just click on the image) but we may receive a small commission for the referral. All proceeds go to operation of this blog.

The Verdict on The Vanishing Season

I really think most mystery/crime lovers will enjoy this rather short read.
