The Lying Game by Ruth Ware

The Lying Game is NOT a psychological thriller. Let’s just start there.

The main character, Isa, is obnoxious to the point of insanity and the other characters aren’t much better. Basically, four thirty-somethings come back together when one of them calls everybody back to their boarding school. Isa relives their “Lying Game” antics and makes you worry about “the big bad” they did as kids. The whole thing is almost laughable. I just don’t understand how anybody could call this book thrilling. It is not that long yet it took me THREE DAYS to finish it. Seriously? I fell asleep reading it TWICE.

There is a long wait for this book at the library. I wonder if my review on our library page will deter anybody? It’s not going to be much different than this one.

Still, maybe you’ll like it if you approach it as a literary fiction (might salvage it). If you’re interested in giving it a go, consider purchasing through this affiliate link. The Verdict on The Lying Game

While the characters may be mental, there is nothing thrilling about the book.
