NaNo Week 3 Check-In: Turned the Corner!

It’s NaNo Week 3 check-in time! We’ve passed the halfway point – where are you at? I’m not where I’d like to be but man, I’m making progress. Not quite halfway but getting there fast. And, my peak writing days are this week! There is a slight change in plans, but that’s okay, I can roll with it. Thanksgiving will still primarily be me, my laptop, Chinese food, copious amounts of coffee, and a bit of beer.

NaNo Tip of the Day

Are you lagging a bit? Try doing some word sprints but mix them up with some serious exercise and throw in some random writing prompts to wake yourself up again.

Bonus Tip: If you’re really stuck, I would suggest the Writer Emergency Pack – which you can purchase through the link. There is no extra charge for purchasing through the link but we may receive a small commission for the referral. It’s a great stocking stuffer too!

Writing Prompt of the Day

I’ve got some great writer’s toolkits. Probably more than I need, but my daughter and I like to use them. We mix it up as much as we can. She will be competing for her school’s Power of the Pen team this year so the prompts help her prepare. We give ourselves a time limit – 30-40 minutes because that’s what her competitions will be – and just write it out. I’m pulling today’s from Complete the Story (again, this is an affiliate link, no extra charge to purchase through the link but we way receive a small commission).

She is always up at the window, waiting, even before the car pulls into the driveway. I know she just wants to see her father. But what she doesn’t realize is…

BUT – the father cannot be a) dead or b) serving in the military AND you cannot spend all of your time describing the characters.

Bonus points: your “she” is not human!
