The Dirty Book Club is one of my anticipated new releases. I took it on a flyer because it sounded interesting, different. It surpassed my expectations.
M.J. (May-June Stark) moves from New York to California – this works, I promise – where she meets Gloria. From there, M.J. is invited to take on the Dirty Book Club along with three other women – Addie, Britt, and Jules. Through several trials and tribulations, the quartet learns to trust each other and lean on each other. There are so many layers of stories it’s hard to say more without offering spoilers. Trust me, just go with it.
I finished this book in less than two hours (I’m a fast reader). This is not my usual genre of choice but the story is that captivating and enjoyable. This is how women should relate to each other, this is what I thought friendship would be. It never has been for me. My best friends tend to be men. I relate better to the opposite sex but perhaps things would be different if I had a fairy godmother like Gloria. Perhaps if I were pushed toward a trio of women like Addie, Britt, and Jules it would be different for me. I don’t know.

The Verdict on The Dirty Book Club
This is not my usual genre of choice but I am so glad I made an exception. The Dirty Book Club is brilliant and heart-wrenching exploration of female relationships at various stages of life and love.
